WHY SHOULD I USE PAWSITIVE Pet Care?

I believe in elevating the industry, holding ourselves to higher standards, and follow the dog*tec Code of Ethics as a Certified Dog Walker (learn more about CDWs). For those reasons, I attend canine science symposiums, take online classes, and strive to continue my education. Only force-free methods & equipment are used. In addition, I am a loving, dependable and trustworthy pet-a-holic! Your pet will remain in their familiar environment, and dogs will be walked at a location you approve of. I follow their customary diet and exercise routine while including obedience breaks, play time and bonding time, and because I don't walk large packs, your pet receives lots of love and personal attention while you are away.

WHAT EXPERIENCE DO YOU HAVE WITH PETS?

I have been caring for other people's pets since 2013. I am a dog*tec Certified Dog Walker, and am Dogsafe First Aid and CPR Certified. In addition, I have experience with different varieties of large breed dogs, like German Shepherds, Labs, Rottweilers, Huskies, and small dogs like Teacup Poodles. I have also owned indoor and outdoor cats, mice, birds, fresh & saltwater fish, and currently have two cats: Isis & Ozzy, and a Ball Python named Sheba. I am not afraid to care for any animal, within reason, and provide a high level of care and love.

HOW LONG ARE YOUR VISITS?

While it depends on the service you choose, my visits are between 30 minutes to one hour, except for Group Adventures when your dog will be out of the house for up to 4 hours. Sometimes if time permits, I will spend a little extra time giving some love and play time.

 

WHAT HAPPENS IN SEVERE WEATHER?

Pawsitive Pet Care requests the name and phone number of an emergency contact person living nearby. If I am physically unable to reach your home due to impassable roads, I will contact that person. Your pets’ health and well-being is my top concern and I will contact you as soon as possible to keep you informed. If I can make it to your home, but extreme weather makes a normal walk unsuitable, we'll have a quick potty break outside and then play in the backyard, pool, or indoors for the normal duration of the walk.

CAN YOU LET ME KNOW HOW MY PET IS DOING WHILE I’M AWAY?

Yes! You will receive report cards and messages through the client portal. Expect funny, silly images that show how much fun your pets have while you are away!

DO YOU BOARD PETS?

Sorry, I can not board pets in my home. I don't think my cats would like that very much! I do provide daily or overnight visits for your pets.

IF MY PET HAS AN “ACCIDENT”, DO YOU CLEAN IT UP?

Yes, I will clean up after your pets to the best of my ability. If there are always accidents, I will ask you to book an additional visit in the day. I will do a quick walk through to check for accidents. I can't guarantee complete smell and stain removal, but you won't have any unpleasant surprises waiting for you when you get home!

DO YOU PICK UP MY DOG’S WASTE WHEN YOU ARE WALKING?

Yes, I do. I keep dog waste bags on me at all times. Keeping private and public property free of pet waste is healthy for your pets and other animals, and considerate to your community.

I AM LEAVING IN TWO DAYS AND DON’T HAVE TIME TO MEET YOU. WILL YOU TAKE CARE OF MY PETS WITHOUT MEETING THEM?

I’m sorry, but I do require an initial meeting before taking care of your pets.

DO YOU CHARGE FOR THE INITIAL MEETING?

Meeting me is always free.

WHAT INFORMATION DO I NEED TO PROVIDE WHEN WE MEET?

Prior to introducing me to your animal, you will need to have filled out the Pre-Screening Application here, and obtained digital copies of up-to-date vaccines for each pet. When we meet, I will ask you questions to complete the full application, and you'll need to provide emergency contact information, veterinary contact information, proof of up-to-date vaccines, and the lock box code or any keys needed to gain access to the animal(s) if applicable. (For dog walking, we require you have a key storage lock box on the property. Learn more here.) Most of the meeting will be time getting to know you and your pets. WHY DO I HAVE TO HAVE A STORAGE KEY LOCK BOX? CAN'T I JUST GIVE YOU A KEY TO KEEP?

A storage key lock box is the safest, easiest way for your Walker or Sitter to get in, and you don't have to worry about lost or stolen keys...and to be honest, we won't have to worry about keeping track of them either! I have had some keys lost in...interesting...ways, and it's a hassle for clients to replace them. Complete details on the storage key lock box policy can be found here.

WHAT HOLIDAYS DON'T YOU WALK?

We will walk on all holidays, but those must be scheduled before the 5th of the month and are subject to a Holiday Fee of $10 per visit. Pet Sitting is scheduled by first come first serve and we only offer a limited number of slots for Holiday Visits. Holiday Visits include New Year's Eve, New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, President's Day, Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day.

WHAT ARE VACATION DAYS?

  1. The Client will be awarded Vacation Days equal to 2x the number of walks normally scheduled in a given week, every 6 months. Example: if dog is walked 2x per week, Client has 4 Vacation Days in a 6 month period.

  2. Vacation Days can be used to cancel a paid session last minute without penalty and that session will rollover to the next month, or schedule “No Walk” days in advance.

  3. After all Vacation Days have been used, no rollovers or refunds will be granted for canceled sessions, and “No Walk” days scheduled will still be subject to full charge, because clients understand that they are paying to reserve a time slot that can't be filled by another client.

  4. Unused Vacation Days do not rollover to the next 6 months.

WHAT IS 1:1 Dog Training?

Pawsitive Pet Care offers 1:1 live video dog training for help with dog walking challenges you may be facing for anyone not in the Nashville TN area. All you need is a webcam or phone, and all sessions are conducted over Zoom video conferencing.

ARE YOU INSURED?

Yes. I carry liability insurance through Pet Sitters Associates.

WHAT HOURS DO YOU PROVIDE SERVICES?

Cat Care Drop-ins are scheduled between 7am-9am and 6pm-8pm only. Group Adventures and Individual Dog Walks are between 9am-5pm. Other times can be arranged, if absolutely crucial. Overnight visits are 24/7 with Sitters required to be at location from 8:00 pm to 8:00 am. I can always be reached through your Pawsitive Pal Account from 7am-8pm daily.

WHAT KIND OF ANIMALS DO YOU CARE FOR?

I can care for most animals, as long as they don’t pose a danger to humans, but typically I specialize in large dogs over 45 lbs, and cats. I do not care for any animals that have a history of biting, fighting or attacking other animals or people, unless said animal is going through a rehabilitation program with a certified force-free trainer.

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL I CARE FOR TARANTULAS OR SPIDERS OF ANY KIND. Because I am an arachnophobe, and a really wussy one at that. Nope. Just, nope.

WHAT DO YOU DO ON A VISIT?

My Overnight Pet Sitting includes: feeding (per your instructions), fresh water, dogs walked, love and play time, brushing, litter box cleaned, bird cage cleaned, medication given if needed, mail and newspaper brought in, plants watered, lights on and off. Lots of TLC.

During my Cat Care Drop-in visits, I feed and water the kitties, give them some play time, clean the litter, mail and newspaper brought in, plants watered, lights on and off.

Dog Walking services include fresh water, dogs walked with training and reinforcement of good behavior and leash manners or play time in the backyard, pool, or potty break and play indoors during severe weather.

DO YOU ALWAYS VISIT ON THE TIME WE ASK FOR?

I try to keep the time consistent to not interrupt an established routine, but sometimes things get moved around. Of course if you have an animal that needs medicine at a critical time, please let me know.

Cat Care Drop-ins are established times in the morning or evening, and kept the same as their normal routine.

I HAVE NEVER USED AN OVERNIGHT PET SITTER BEFORE; CAN YOU TELL ME A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THIS SERVICE?

Overnight visits are to give you peace of mind knowing that your home is being looked after as well as your pets getting extra love and attention. If your pets are used to sleeping in your bed with you, Sitters are happy to snuggle with them in bed too! Sitters are at your home 24/7 unless running errands or walking other dogs during the day. At night Sitters are required to be at your home from 8pm-8am. Pet Sitting includes dog walking, playtime, snuggles, love, and feeding and watering, and anything else your pets need.

CAN I BE ASSURED OF SAME PET SITTER EACH TIME?

Yes, until I am ready to expand, and then you can expect competently trained animal lovers to help take care of your pet, too! But for now, it's me, and only me.

WILL I RECEIVE A REFUND IF I LEAVE LATER THAN EXPECTED OR RETURN EARLY?

No, please understand that I have made time for your visits and may have turned other people down to allow time for your pets. I appreciate your understanding in this matter, and under certain circumstances credit towards future services may be offered.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I DID NOT LEAVE ENOUGH FOOD FOR MY PET(S)?

I will let you know that there is not enough food so that you are aware. I am happy to make a special trip to purchase food! Reimbursement for the cost of the food + a $10 trip fee will be added to your next payment period.

HOW IS PAYMENT HANDLED?

Dog Walking: An invoice with an explanation of charges for the coming month is emailed to you, and you can pay directly from there with a debit or credit card, or view and pay your invoice directly from your Client Account. I also accept checks or cash left on a counter top or secure place in your home, made out to Tasha M. Erickson. Payment is due by the 5th of each month. After 5 days of non-payment, $5 will be added to the total bill for each day that payment is overdue up to 30 days, when at that time the contract will be considered null and void.

Pet Sitting: 25% non-refundable deposit is due at the time of scheduling, with the remaining balance due by the day before services begin.

In the case of a returned check, a $10 fee will apply to the first one returned, in addition to the original check balance. For the second returned check within 3 months, the fee is $25. In both cases, the terms of late payments as stated above will apply. The third returned item will constitute a termination of the contract, a $25 fee, and the terms of late payments above will apply.

WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?

I am super flexible when it comes to Dog Walking and short term overnight Pet Sitting. You can even let me know the day of, though at least 24 hours is preferred. For Holiday visits, please let me know at least 10 days before your vacation. There are no refunds for cancellations of dog walking; you pay for reserving a time slot. Pet Sitting & Cat Care cancellations result in a refund of the balance minus the 25% deposit.

DO YOU OFFER ANY SORT OF SATISFACTION GUARANTEE?

If you are unhappy you can cancel service at any time and we will go our separate ways, though cancellation policies will apply. You want to know that your pets will be cared for just the way you specify. I will be happy to address any concerns you may have so your pets are taken care of perfectly. I believe in bonding with animals to provide consistency, and lasting client relationships, so I will do what I can to make sure you are completely satisfied.

WHAT IS YOUR PRIVACY POLICY?

Pawsitive Pet Care will keep your information secure to the best of our ability. Everything is kept electronically through Time to Pet, our business management software and in some cases, Dropbox, so their privacy policies apply. Checks that have been electronically deposited into my account are held in a fire/water proof safe until they are shredded 90 days later.

I live at Terra House, River House, or Olmsted Apartments. how do I hire you to walk my dog?

Congratulations! You get to partake in exclusive dog walking deals because you chose a Super-Cool-Awesomesauce dog-friendly place to live!

Terra House/River House residents get 45 minute dog walks, a monthly group dog training session, and dog subscription box by mentioning code TERRAHOUSE2018 or RIVERHOUSE2018 for $35 each walk/dog. Walks are between 11am-1pm.

Olmsted residents get 60 minute walks at Shelby Bottoms, VIP Status that includes 2 complimentary nights of pet sitting per year + first right of refusal on open spots during monthly dog training sessions, and dog subscription box by mentioning code OLMSTEDVIP for $35 each walk/dog. Walks are between 1:15pm-4:15pm.
